North Texans will see cool weather moving into the New Year, with overnight temperatures dropping into the low to mid-30s through January 2.

We can look forward to sunshine with intervals of clouds and a high of 49 on Thursday, December 28. Friday will warm to a high of 57, with temperatures expected to increase to 60 on Saturday and 63 on Sunday. However, New Year’s Day will drop to only a high of 50, according to The Weather Channel.

The greatest chance of rain is not expected until January 2, when we could see a 40% chance of showers in the afternoon.

As the New Year approaches, the full moon will maintain its appearance through Wednesday, December 27, before moving into the waning gibbous phase.

The waning gibbous moon will be visible through Tuesday, January 2, according to The Weather Channel. During this phase, which occurs after the full moon, the moon gradually begins to shrink in size.

Symbolically, as we move into a new year, the waning gibbous moon represents a time of transition and change, a time for contemplation and reflection, letting go of things that no longer serve their purpose, and being grateful for the lessons you have learned, according to ThatVeryNight.com.

As we enter the waning gibbous phase of the moon, it’s worth noting that many people are focused on improving their health and well-being.

According to a recent Forbes Health survey, physical health was the top priority for 45% of respondents who have already made New Year’s resolutions for 2024. The only exception to this trend was among adults aged 78 and above, who placed a greater emphasis on improving their mental health.

In 2023, the study found that a similar proportion of people (45%) had prioritized mental health as their top resolution. It’s no secret that physical exercise has been shown to positively impact mental health, which may explain why so many people are focused on getting in shape and taking care of their bodies to improve their overall well-being.
