A local high school is honoring one of its longest-serving faculty members.

Duncanville High School is renaming its library in honor of Flora “Flo” Judd, who has served the school and the district for nearly five decades.

Judd currently serves as the Duncanville High School assistant principal. She was originally a teacher in Waco and then served as a teacher in multiple schools before moving on to serve in Duncanville ISD, according to the school district.

Judd has worked for the school district for 47 years and has served in multiple areas within the school, including the school’s community service program. She was the recipient of the Spirit of Champion and Administrator of the Year awards, according to CBS News.

The school held a naming ceremony for the library on Tuesday, during which Judd’s impact and service to the school were described as immeasurable.

“She has been a significant contributor to the success of generations of Duncanville families for over 45 years,” said the school in its invite to the event. “We are grateful for her impact, leadership, and legacy.”

Judd told CBS that the district had named her “Queen of the District” after 45 years of service and that the school and district had been her “life” throughout her tenure there.

“I’m highly honored and touched that my school district whom I love so much would want my name remembered in connection with this high school,” Judd said, according to CBS.

Faculty members expressed their appreciation for Judd. Dr. Tiffany Staats, principal at Duncanville High School Collegiate Academy, said that former students often come back attributing some of their knowledge to Judd.

“I only hope I can impact kids as much as she has,” said Staats, according to CBS.

“She’s an amazing person, amazing woman, amazing mom, and administrator, we are lucky to have her,” said Tameka Butts, a former student and current athletic advisor for Duncanville ISD.
