Anna Middle School students who are involved in the Gifted and Talented program recently put together little libraries in four different locations around the city of Anna.

These students from “The Home of the Coyotes” chose to embody the school’s motto, “Invest, Instill, and Inspire,” by helping to bond the community.

Christian Gober, a teacher from the middle school worked with the City of Anna Neighborhood Services Department to choose the areas where the little libraries would be placed. They also discussed the resources needed to complete the task and determined who would be in charge of maintaining all four of the structures.

Dubbed the “Little Coyote Libraries,” they are located at Sherley Heritage Park, Natural Springs Park, Johnson Park, and Slayter Creek Park, according to NBC DFW.

Good World News stated that the students will monitor the program and their duties will be passed along to the next class that takes their place as they further their education when they grow beyond the program.

Each little library is designed to allow community members to take a book home to read or to leave a book there for others to enjoy. If a library happens to be filled and you would like to donate books, Anna Middle School would gladly accept them.

Marc Marchand, the Director of Neighborhood Services stated, “We’re thrilled to have this project come to fruition in Anna and to have collaborated with Anna Middle School’s Gifted and Talented program to make it happen.

In May 2021, Anna neighbors voted to approve bond Proposition B for a community library. While we’re in the early stages of design for the project and public input will begin next month, the work by these students shows the continued interest and desire for access to books and community.”
