All major public school districts across the Dallas–Fort Worth region have announced they will be closed Monday as winter weather continues to impact road conditions and travel safety across North Texas.
The widespread closures span Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, and surrounding counties, with districts citing icy roads, freezing temperatures, and uncertain conditions as the primary reasons for suspending in-person classes. As of Saturday, no major DFW-area independent school district has indicated plans to operate under a normal schedule Monday.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, school closures across North Texas began expanding early as weather conditions worsened, with districts initially canceling after-school and weekend activities before moving to full closures for Monday.
In addition to K–12 public schools, numerous private schools, charter networks, colleges, churches, and community services have also announced closures or schedule changes. Several higher education institutions have shifted to remote instruction or suspended in-person operations through the weekend and into early next week.
Officials across the region continue to urge families and staff to monitor district communication channels for updates, noting that additional cancellations or operational changes could be announced if weather conditions persist. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, particularly during early morning hours when icy conditions are expected to remain hazardous.
