Collin College and Texas Wesleyan University were two of at least four Texas colleges and universities that were the targets of hoax calls Thursday, authorities said.

Plano police responded to the campus on East Spring Parkway after calls alleging a shooting on campus.

Officers found nothing.

“We had a HOAX call come into our 9-1-1 center at approximately 9:45 a.m. that a mass shooting had occurred at Collin College Plano campus. Plano Police and Fire-Rescue response was swift. It was quickly determined to be a false call,” Plano Police wrote on Twitter.

Students and faculty sheltered in place while the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) responded at Texas Wesleyan (TXWES).

“Earlier this morning, an Emergency Alert was sent out to the TXWES community to shelter-in-place,” Texas Wesleyan wrote on Twitter. “FWPD quickly responded to campus, started clearing buildings, and found no evidence of an emergency. Further investigation found the call was placed by a scam number.”

Texas A&M in College Station and Tyler Junior College in Tyler also were targeted, police said.

Police did not indicate the calls were related. No suspect has been named.
