WFAA’s “The Panel with Jonah Javad: A Mother’s Day Special” won the Sports Interview/Discussion – Single Program award Monday night during the 2026 Lone Star Sports Emmy ceremony at Echo Lounge & Music Hall in Dallas.
The Dallas Express and The Dallas Express Sports Network congratulate WFAA sports anchor and senior storyteller Jonah Javad, who hosts “The Panel with Jonah Javad,” along with the six mothers featured in the program and the WFAA production team.
Javad confirmed the victory in a post after the ceremony. He said the program brought together six mothers of professional athletes with North Texas ties to share their stories and advice for parents of young athletes.
The Emmy-winning special featured Ann Shaw, mother of Jaedyn Shaw; Laurie Witt, mother of Bobby Witt Jr.; Jami Smith, mother of Jaxon Smith-Njigba; Denyse Maxey, mother of Tyrese Maxey; Christine Spieth, mother of Jordan Spieth; and Mercedes Robertson, mother of Jason Robertson. Javad thanked the six mothers and WFAA’s crew after the ceremony.
DXSN‘s nomination marks a first-year milestone
The Lone Star Chapter also nominated DXSN‘s Cowboys roundtable “Jerry Flipped The Bird – Dak Flipped The Script” and FC Dallas’ “The Kick: ’26 FIFA World Cup Draw Behind the Scene” in the category.
As previously reported by DX, the nominee list names Kevin Morrell as producer and Chris Yates as host of the DXSN episode. The team produced the program before Dallas Sports Network merged into DXSN.
Two-time Super Bowl champion Tony Casillas joined Mark Elfenbein, Will Koberg, Jamie Kelton and Scooter Magruder for a discussion about Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ $250,000 NFL fine and quarterback Dak Prescott’s comparisons with Tony Romo.
DXSN did not take home the Emmy, but the nomination marked a milestone during the network’s first year. The Dallas Express launched DXSN in February with year-round coverage of North Texas sports.
