News of these three homicides comes in the wake of the tragic loss of life in the mass shooting in Allen, Texas, and amidst a dramatic increase in the number of murders in Dallas. As of May 2, the City of Dallas had experienced 95 murders in 2023 — a roughly 20% increase in the number of murders when compared to last year, according to the crime analytics dashboard.

Due to the ransomware attack against the City, the crime analytics dashboard has not yet been updated to account for almost two weeks of crime.
