Violent crime continues to pose a significant threat to Dallas residents. Here are some of the tragic incidents that transpired over the weekend.

Woman Stabbed to Death:

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) is investigating a stabbing that left one woman dead early morning Saturday. The incident happened at about 8 a.m. in the 200 block of Santa Fe Avenue.

Police have not released any further information, including whether they have a suspect.

The incident took place in District 4, which Council Member Carolyn King Arnold represents.

Two Shot in Robbery:

Dallas police are investigating a robbery and shooting that occurred late Saturday evening. The incident happened at about 9:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of Grigsby Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two victims who had been shot by an unknown assailant.

The suspect had taken the victims’ property and fled the location. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and remain in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

The incident took place in District 2, which is represented by Council Member Jesse Moreno, who has been named Crime Boss multiple times.

Man Shot to Death on Wullschleger Lane:

Dallas police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead late Saturday night.

The incident took place at about 10:45 p.m. in the 5300 block of Wullschleger Lane in Dallas.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to the scene, but the man died at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The incident took place in District 7, which is represented by Council Member Adam Bazaldua.

Dallas police officers continue to patrol the streets amidst a shortfall of officers. The department is presently some 400-500 officers short of what is needed to fight crime, according to Mike Mata, president of the Dallas Police Association.

In an email exchange between the DPD and The Dallas Express, the department expressed its utmost confidence in its officers.

“The men and women of the Dallas Police Department work hard every day to prevent and reduce violent crime in our city. But we don’t do this work alone. Together, with our city leaders, community leaders, and neighborhoods, we work to make Dallas a safer place for those who live, work and visit,” the email read.

Downtown Dallas, in particular, struggles with crime. Last fall, a dedicated police unit was created for neighboring Deep Ellum. Such units are common in downtown areas. Fort Worth uses such a unit alongside private security guards, and the Houston Police Department maintains a special team called the Downtown Division.
