Texas Inmate Gets 57 More Months After Plot To Blow Up Prison Admin’s Home

Dallas Express | Mar 12, 2026

A 55-year-old federal prisoner in Texas will serve another 57 months behind bars after admitting he planned to blow up the home of a prison administrator upon his release.

U.S. District Judge Michael J. Truncale sentenced John Robert Bond on March 11 after he pleaded guilty to threatening a federal official, U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced.

Less than a month prior to his scheduled release, Bond stated that he was going to “blow up” the residence of one administrator at the Federal Correctional Complex in Beaumont when he got out. He was originally scheduled for release on June 13, 2025.

Officials responded to the March 25 threat by searching his belongings. They discovered notes containing details about the administrator, including his home address. Bond was charged criminally in connection with the threats and was not released from custody.

The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, “a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime,” according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The FBI investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys John B. Ross and Chris Jackson prosecuted. Federal authorities did not state what federal charges initially landed Bond in prison or how long he had been incarcerated.
