Teenager Dies in Shooting Over Weekend

One person was injured and another killed in a shooting in Dallas on Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the 3600 block of Legendary Lane on May 6 around 4:30 p.m., where they found a teenage boy who had been shot, according to The DPD Beat, a site maintained by the DPD Media Relations Unit.

The boy was taken to the hospital and later died due to his injuries.

A female victim was also found at the scene with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. She was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.

The shooting investigation is ongoing, and no other additional information has been provided by police at this time.

While overall violent crime has decreased in Dallas in 2023 compared to 2022, homicides have continued to increase substantially. As of May 2, murder and nonnegligent manslaughter are up 21.8% in the city of Dallas compared to the same time last year, according to figures from the City of Dallas Open Data crime analytics dashboard.

There were multiple shootings across the metroplex over the weekend. A 73-year-old man died Friday night after being shot around 7:05 p.m. at a residence in the 10600 block of Coogan Drive, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Another shooting occurred just hours later, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday in the 3500 block of Frankford Road. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries, as reported by The Dallas Express.
