A 17-year-old has been charged with murder after police said a San Antonio convenience store worker was fatally stabbed during a dispute over a tobacco sale the teen was too young to legally make.
Samuel Davis is being held on a $500,000 bond in connection with the death of Sanad Ahmad Faisal Al Resheq, according to jail records cited by News 4 San Antonio.
The stabbing happened shortly after 1 a.m. Friday at Classic Mart on Medical Drive near Fairhaven Street on the city’s Northwest Side.
Police initially responded to a reported shooting in progress, but officers found Al Resheq with multiple stab wounds.
Investigators said a man walked into the store and got into an argument with Al Resheq. During the argument, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him several times before fleeing, police said.
Emergency crews tried to save Al Resheq for about 20 minutes, but he died at the scene.
Arrest After Standoff
Hours after the stabbing, police surrounded the Charles Andrews Apartments across the street from the convenience store and took several people into custody.
Davis is the only person charged in connection with the case so far, News 4 San Antonio reported.
The case drew a Friday night vigil outside the store, where friends and family gathered to remember Al Resheq.
Davis is expected to appear for a pre-indictment setting on August 18.
