A Texas father has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to repeatedly abusing and starving his young children.

Kevin Dixon, 28, of Princeton, received the sentence from District Judge Kim Laseter for seven counts of injury to a child, causing serious bodily injury. The charges stemmed from incidents involving his six children, some as young as 2 years old.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced the outcome Tuesday, noting Dixon’s prior felony conviction for robbery in 2015, for which he served time, and which elevated his potential punishment to 15 to 99 years or life per count.

The case began in 2021 when the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services flagged inadequate living conditions and warned Dixon against excessive discipline. But in February 2025, officials revisited the family and found five children under age 10 with extensive marks, permanent scars, and severe malnourishment, weighing significantly below normal for their ages.

Princeton police opened an investigation, and the children were interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County. They recounted being deprived of food and beaten with belts and cords, including one instance where a child was struck for taking a candy bar. Detective Carolyn Crawford documented the injuries, which affected even the youngest child.

Dixon was sentenced to life on each of the five counts related to physical abuse and 25 years on the two counts tied to malnourishment. Prosecutors said the life term will prevent him from harming his children or others in the future.

“This father brutally beat and starved his own young children — some toddlers — leaving permanent scars and lasting trauma. A tough sentence like life in prison is what it takes to protect vulnerable kids and ensure those who inflict such harm face full accountability. My office will always stand up for children who can’t defend themselves,” Willis said after the sentencing.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Jean-Marie Anderson and Wendy Correa handled the prosecution, with support from District Attorney Investigator Greg Bowers.
