A man who was shot while driving crashed his truck in Oak Cliff last week.

Several passersby pulled him from the pickup and laid him on the grass. Someone called the police.

On Monday evening, June 6, Dallas police responded to the accident scene in the 3400 block of Navajo Drive, near the intersection of South Polk Street and West Kiest Boulevard. At approximately 7:36 p.m., they found William Glen Wright, 57, wounded but still alive.

Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the gunshot victim to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The incident involved just one vehicle, Wright’s 2005 silver Dodge pickup. However, witnesses also described seeing a red Dodge Charger.

An investigation led to the discovery that a disturbance in the area involving an active shooter in a vehicle had previously been reported at 6:46 p.m. That incident involved a red Dodge Charger and a silver Dodge pickup truck.

There was no other information on the case or any prospective suspects.

Anyone with information on the homicide is asked to email Detective Jeffrey Loeb at [email protected] or call him at 214-671-3702.

Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
