A man was fatally shot on Sunday evening in East Dallas, increasing the number of homicides in the City to 12 for November.
Officers responded to the 10000 block of Neosho Drive around 5:15 p.m. on November 30, where they found the victim with apparent gunshot wounds. The unidentified man was pronounced dead after Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived at the scene. The shooting marks another homicide in a city grappling with persistent violent crime.
Police have not released information about suspects or a possible motive. The case is being investigated as a homicide under case number 171764-2025. Detective A. Thayer is leading the investigation. Anyone with information should contact him at 214-671-3657 or [email protected].
The death marks the 128th homicide in Dallas so far this year. It comes as the Dallas Police Department announces a six-week initiative, in partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service, to track down violent offenders wth outstanding felony warrants during the holiday season.
Dubbed Holiday Heat, the initiative runs through January 9 and targets high-crime neighborhoods with increased patrols, detective work, and federal resources.
“As we move into the holiday season, we’re Dallas, and we’re turning up the heat on violent crime,” Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said in a statement. “Holiday Heat is a deliberate and focused effort to remove dangerous offenders from our neighborhoods. Our message is clear: if you’re committing violent crime in this city, we’re coming for you.”
Comeaux urged residents to report suspicious activity, adding that community tips are critical to keeping families safe through the holidays.
Acting U.S. Marshal Sean Malecha for the Northern District of Texas called the partnership a united front against fugitives.
“Violent fugitives have no place to hide in North Texas,” Malecha said. “When local and federal partners unite, offenders should expect a knock on their door. We are committed to protecting families not only during the holidays but throughout the year.”
Authorities said they will withhold specific locations and tactics to protect officers and ongoing investigations, while maintaining visible community outreach to build trust.
Here is a brief rundown of the other 11 homicides in November, as reported by The Dallas Express:

Police fired at McDonald, who died at the scene. Cox also died at the scene, and the three injured bystanders were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. In the interest of transparency, the DPD has released body cam footage of the officer-involved shooting, the seventh this year.
- At 12:45 a.m. on November 22, police responded to a shooting call in the 300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard, where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. The Dallas Police Department’s efforts to combat violent crime continue to be hampered by a chronic shortage of police officers, and the City has yet to meet the standards mandated by Dallas voters through Proposition U, passed last year. The measure requires the City to maintain a police force of 4,000 sworn officers and to provide the force with a pay and benefits package that ranks among the top five in the metroplex for cities with populations over 50,000.
