A man was killed in a shooting at a Far North Dallas apartment complex on Friday, police said.

At about 12:15 a.m. on September 16, officers with the Dallas Police Department were dispatched to a shooting in the 5800 block of Preston Oaks Road.

Upon arrival, they found 26-year-old Derrick Thomas with a gunshot wound.

Thomas was taken to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive.

Police arrested 28-year-old Lamar Jack on a murder charge in connection with the shooting.

It is unclear how Jack is connected to the shooting as police did not release further details of their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Jack was taken to the Dallas County jail, and his bail was set at $50,000. It is unclear if he has an attorney.

Jack is a murderer! He killed my friend. Derrick has a family, that he would of gave anything for. They need an update to this story for closure.
