A Fort Worth man was almost shot by a woman in an SUV as he walked down East Leuda Street on Saturday.

Video footage of the incident was captured on a neighbor’s surveillance camera.

The footage shows Derrick Montgomery walking down the side of the road in a blue shirt and light-colored shorts.

A dark-colored SUV pulls up alongside him, and the passenger side window is rolled down. Montgomery pauses his stroll and looks at the passenger window. He tenses up, briefly appearing to duck down, just before a hand emerges holding what appears to be a gun.

Montgomery runs down the street as the person in the passenger seat of the SUV fires at least one shot in his general direction. The SUV then drives off down the road.

“I looked at her. I looked at the gun. I thought maybe the gun was fake. I was like, ‘I know this girl’s not pulling no gun on me,'” said Montgomery, speaking with NBC 5.

But it appears she did pull a gun. The bullet missed him and hit a nearby car belonging to Antonio Serrano. The vehicle was parked in front of Serrano’s house, where he was inside with his family preparing dinner.

“We hear gunshots here and there at night time [most] of the time, but never during the day time, and never in front of the house,” Serrano told NBC 5. “So, it’s kind of shocking for us with the kids and everything.”

Montgomery stated that he grew up in the historic Southside neighborhood near Glenwood Park where the attempted shooting occurred.

He said he had seen the woman who shot at him in the neighborhood before but that he did not know her.

Reflecting on his surviving the incident, Montgomery told NBC 5, “It’s mainly luck, you know what I’m saying? This is my block, my neighborhood, Southside, you know.”

Police are investigating but have not said whether a suspect has been identified.

If the captured photo is real, detals of the vehicle should be able to be identified
