Local Driver Ejected from Truck in Crash After Being Shot

Local Gunshot Driver Is Ejected from Crashing Truck

A Fort Worth motorist suffering from gunshot wounds was ejected from their vehicle when it crashed Tuesday evening.

At around 8 p.m. on July 12, an accident occurred on the West Freeway near the exit ramp for southbound Loop 820. Police found a pickup truck that had crashed through a guardrail, rolled several times, and finally caught fire.

At some point during the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Despite sustaining severe injuries from the ejection, the driver escaped the resulting fire before it completely consumed the pickup truck.

MedStar responded to the scene and took the driver to a nearby hospital in critical condition. According to the medical staff, the motorist arrived at the hospital with two gunshot wounds.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

According to authorities, traffic detectives were handling the investigation, and the gun violence unit has been notified and may provide ancillary support.
