According to the Dallas Police Department, a 2-year-old child was struck and killed by a car on May 23 in North Richland Hills, Texas.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that around forty minutes after Gideon Randall was struck by a vehicle, he was pronounced dead by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office in Fort Worth.

Police in North Richland Hills declined to say what kind of car hit the youngster or whether an adult accompanied him at the time of the incident.

At around 5:15 p.m. on May 24, a car struck the child near his home in the 6100 block of Browning Drive, the Oxford at Iron Horse apartment complex.

The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The authorities ruled out speed as a contributing factor and have called the incident a “tragic accident.” No charges are expected to be filed.

No further information was available as of press time.
