A Keller father shot his adult son early Saturday morning, claiming self-defense in what police are investigating as a family assault.
Police arrested Gilbert Rios, 46, around 2:10 a.m. in the front yard of a home on the 800 block of Western Trail. Rios told officers he had shot his 27-year-old son.
The wounded man was discovered at a nearby residence with non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported him to a hospital for treatment.
Rios faces aggravated assault charges for allegedly using a deadly weapon against a family member. He was booked into the Tarrant County Jail, and his bond was set at $100,000.
Police have not released the victim’s name. The investigation remains active as detectives piece together what sparked the confrontation.
