Four people died and at least 15 others suffered injuries after shootings early Sunday in Dallas’ Deep Ellum entertainment district as crowds celebrated Halloween, FOX 4 reported, citing Dallas police.
Officers shut down several blocks and summoned police from across the city to manage three crime scenes and large crowds.
One suspect was in custody, but the connection to a particular shooting remained unclear, CBS News Texas reported.
Gunfire along Elm and Main streets
The first shooting call came in about 12:19 a.m. in the 2600 block of Elm Street. Police received a second call just after 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street, NBC 5 reported, citing Dallas police.
Another crime scene was on Crowdus Street between Commerce and Canton streets. The initial reports did not specify whether every injured person had suffered a gunshot wound or provide a complete breakdown of injuries by scene.
Police had not released victims’ names or conditions.
Earlier violence in Deep Ellum
The shootings follow other violence along Elm Street. Three people suffered gunshot wounds in the 2900 block on August 23, and police arrested a suspect on aggravated assault charges, as The Dallas Express previously reported.
In May, 26-year-old security guard Joseph Gray died after a shooting at a business in the 2800 block of Elm Street. Police arrested a 23-year-old man and charged him with murder in that case.
