Five people were arrested early Sunday after allegedly assaulting Dallas police officers investigating a crash in central Oak Cliff.
The incident occurred just after midnight in the 500 block of North Zang Boulevard in Southwest Dallas when a crowd gathered at the crash scene. Police reported the group began interfering with their investigation and physically assaulted officers.
Despite the reported assaults, no officers sustained injuries during the encounter.
Jaqueline Ramirez Reyes, 26, faces the most serious charge — assault on a peace officer, a second-degree felony. Joel Huerta, 36, was charged with possession of a controlled substance under one gram and interference with public duties.
Carlos Nolasco, 21, faces charges of resisting arrest and interference with public duties. Jennifer Hernandez, 23, and Yadira Saldago, 28, were arrested for public intoxication and outstanding warrants.
Dallas police responded to an “assist officer” call at the location. The department has not disclosed how many people were involved in the original crash that prompted the police response.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scope of the incident.
