The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested a wanted felony suspect in Dallas after an automatic license plate reader alert triggered a pursuit and barricade situation.

The arrest capped a manhunt that began on March 3, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., when a DPS trooper patrolling Frankford Road near the Dallas North Tollway received the alert on a vehicle linked to active felony and misdemeanor warrants, DPS reported.

The trooper spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it for a traffic violation. The driver fled to the 4100 block of Firebrick Lane and barricaded himself inside a residence.

Dallas Police Department SWAT officers arrived, entered the home, and discovered the suspect had escaped before their arrival.

The next day, on March 4, DPS Criminal Investigations Division troopers tracked down 29-year-old Justin Givens of Dallas and took him into custody without incident.

Authorities booked Givens into Dallas County Jail on two felony warrants from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. He also faces a misdemeanor warrant from the sheriff’s office for evading arrest and another from DPS for evading arrest.

The investigation continues, with no further details released.
