A police officer was shot in the vest Monday night while responding to an armed disturbance call in Southwest Dallas.
The incident, which left two people wounded and hospitalized, highlights ongoing dangers faced by officers responding to domestic disturbances involving firearms.
Police arrived at the residence in the 4300 block of Woodhollow Drive around 8:41 p.m. on February 2 after receiving reports of an armed suspect threatening people. Officers found the suspect barricaded inside a bathroom with another person.
As officers attempted to negotiate, witnesses began yelling, “He has a gun, he has a gun.” Shots were then fired inside the residence.
Two people sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. One officer took a bullet to his protective vest.
The officer was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. His condition was not immediately disclosed.
Dallas police have not released details about the conditions of the two wounded individuals. The department also hasn’t specified who fired the shots or how many rounds were discharged.
The investigation remains active under case number 015665-2026. Police officials said updates would be provided in the coming days.
