The Dallas Police Department has announced that an officer has been fired following a disciplinary hearing related to his arrest for child sex charges in September.
DPD announced on Tuesday that Brennon Wilkinson, 28, was fired from his department role for “engaging in adverse conduct when he was arrested,” according to NBC 5 DFW.
Wilkinson was accused and arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child from Little Elm in 2014 in Denton County, per NBC 5.
The 28-year-old was arrested in September and charged with aggravated assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child.
Wilkinson was reportedly on leave from the department since at least July 2024; however, the reasoning for the leave had not been made known as it took place before the arrest in September, per The Dallas Morning News.
Wilkinson was released just days after his arrest, posting a $200,000 bail, though it remains unclear what “adverse conduct” he allegedly engaged in during his arrest.
Aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first-degree felony that holds a penalty of up to 99 years or life in prison.
Indecency with a child (sexual contact) is a second-degree felony and holds a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a fine that could be worth up to $10,000.
Finally, indecency with a child (exposure) is a third-degree felony and has a penalty of up to 10 years in prison with a fine of up to $10,000, according to DMN.
