A Dallas man with extensive gang ties opened fire on two victims who refused his robbery demands, leading to a manhunt that ended with his arrest.
Luis Antonio Flores, 33, shot one victim after assaulting both around 5:39 a.m. in the 1200 block of Hillburn Drive in Southeast Dallas on November 12, police reported on December 4. Dallas Police gang units and FBI task force officers responded to the hospital to interview the victims.
The case highlights ongoing violent crime challenges in Southeast Dallas, where gang-affiliated robberies continue disrupting residential neighborhoods.
Flores’ capture removed a repeat offender with convictions spanning robbery, drug trafficking, and aggravated assault.
During hospital interviews, victims identified Flores by his distinctive tattoos. Both recognized him from previous criminal encounters, accelerating the investigation.
Gang Unit detectives uncovered an active family violence warrant while pursuing aggravated robbery charges. The discovery added urgency to locating Flores before any additional crimes occurred.
Southeast Division officers spotted Flores walking on Norvell Drive on the morning of November 15, carrying a black backpack. As marked cruisers approached around 9 a.m., he tossed the bag into a yard and ducked behind parked cars.
Officers recovered a handgun, 7.9 grams of methamphetamine, and 3.7 grams of heroin from the discarded backpack. Flores now faces weapons possession, drug manufacturing, and resisting arrest charges alongside the robbery counts.
Court records reveal Flores served nine years starting in 2016 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His history includes multiple violent felonies and drug possession convictions.
“The successful apprehension of this impact offender was the result of an expeditious thorough criminal investigation by the Gang Unit and the logistic planning and coordinated efforts of the Southeast Division CRT,” said Major Andre Taylor. “The arrest and the seizure of the firearm and illegal narcotics enhance the quality of life for our citizens and strengthen their trust and confidence in the Dallas Police Department.”
Flores is currently in custody at the Dallas County Jail with a $509,500 bond. If convicted, the weapons and drug charges alone could result in decades of additional prison time, given his felon status.
