Dallas police have arrested two suspects in a New Year’s Eve shooting incident that shocked viewers worldwide after video of gunmen firing weapons from an interstate bridge went viral.
Anthony Acevedo, 20, and Jose AlarconSanchez, 18, both of Grand Prairie, were identified as the individuals who were firing guns from the Margaret McDermott Bridge just west of downtown Dallas.
The brazen display of public gunfire captured on social media prompted an intensive multi-agency investigation. Authorities are sending a clear message that reckless shooters endangering public safety will face consequences.
The problem is @Ilhan and other illegals think violence is acceptable or even logical. This is in Dallas, TX where illegals thought that bc it’s a holiday, shooting guns over bridges at traffic is a typical celebration. They bring their traditions with them and rarely assimilate. pic.twitter.com/TcGMIOl6T6

Detectives from Dallas Police’s Central Patrol Division and Special Investigations Unit led the probe. They partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Investigators recovered more than 100 shell casings near the bridge scene.
During the investigation, detectives discovered AlarconSanchez had been arrested by Grand Prairie police for a similar offense. That arrest occurred in Grand Prairie during the early morning hours of January 1, 2026.
The investigation took an unexpected turn when detectives uncovered evidence linking another suspect to a separate crime. Anderson Derce Lara, 25, of Midlothian, was connected to a November road-rage shooting where he allegedly fired multiple rounds into a vehicle carrying three adults and three children.
ATF agents helped execute a search warrant that yielded multiple firearms. Among the weapons recovered were the rifles seen in the viral social media video.
Acevedo and AlarconSanchez face charges of Discharge of a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, a Class A misdemeanor. Derce Lara faces six counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a first-degree felony.
Acevedo has been released on bond. Both AlarconSanchez and Derce Lara have immigration holds preventing their release. Public reports do not provide further details on their exact citizenship or entry status.
“If you put lives at risk in Dallas, we will identify you, investigate thoroughly, and hold you accountable,” said Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux. The chief’s statement reflects the department’s commitment to pursuing dangerous shooters regardless of how long investigations take.
