Singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested Thursday by the Los Angeles Police Department on suspicion of murder in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department on April 16 on suspicion of murder in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. He is being held without bail.

Burke was arrested Thursday, and LAPD later confirmed on social media that David Burke, 21, had been arrested in the case and was being held without bail. No criminal complaint had been filed and no grand jury indictment had been returned as of press time.

In a statement published by TMZ after the arrest, Burke’s attorneys said, “Let us be clear – the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death… There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed.”

DX first covered the case in September 2025, when LAPD executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills property connected to Burke after Rivas Hernandez’s remains were discovered inside Burke’s impounded Tesla.

As reported then, the car had been left in the Hollywood Hills before being towed to an impound lot, where workers reported a foul odor. Rivas Hernandez had been reported missing from the Lake Elsinore area in April 2024. She was 14 when she disappeared.

The case drew further attention in December 2025 when a private investigator hired by the property owner said he found a high-temperature “burn cage” incinerator at Burke’s former rental home. Police have not publicly said the device was connected to the case. LAPD had already removed computers and other evidence during an earlier search warrant tied to the investigation.

Then, in February, The Dallas Express reported that newly unsealed court documents from Texas appellate proceedings tied to grand jury subpoenas served on Burke’s family members formally labeled him the “target” of a Los Angeles grand jury investigation. Those January 2026 documents stated that Burke “may be involved in having committed” one count of murder.

No arrest had been announced in the case until Thursday.

Authorities have not publicly detailed all of the evidence underlying the arrest, and prosecutors are expected to review the case.

Rivas Hernandez’s death has drawn widespread attention since her remains were found in September 2025. The case now moves to prosecutors for review.
