A 10-year-old boy was left injured and hospitalized after a drive-by shooting on Monday night, according to law enforcement officials.

Officers responded to a shooting call that took place at a home in the 2800 block of Avenue I, near Beach and Rosedale streets, around 8:20 p.m. on November 28.

The child was inside the home when an unknown suspect started shooting at the residence, firing several times. The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. Police said the boy was transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center, where he is in good condition and expected to be okay.

The suspect has not yet been identified, and there have been no arrests. Police have not released any description of the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle at this time.

The victim’s identity has not been made known because he is a minor.

The investigation is ongoing.
