A routine traffic stop in Terrell led to the seizure of dozens of firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and THC vape pens.
The Terrell Police Department said officers stopped a U-Haul truck around 1 a.m. on Sunday for a traffic violation.
During the stop, the driver, identified as 47-year-old Wesley Chapel, told officers he was a convicted felon and admitted he had a firearm and multiple THC vape pens inside the vehicle, police said.
Authorities searched the truck and recovered 27 firearms, about 5,000 rounds of ammunition, and approximately $4,400 in cash.
Police said Chapel was arrested and charged with firearm smuggling, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance of less than 400 grams.
Investigators have not released a possible motive or specified how many THC vape pens were recovered.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
