As early voting is underway, Dallas County is preparing for the March 3 primaries.
The Dallas County Elections Department encourages voters to plan for these elections. Voters began casting their ballots at 74 Early Vote Centers across the county on February 17. However, on election day, voters will need to go to their designated polling places to cast their votes.
“This election may look different for many voters who are used to voting at any location on Election Day,” said Dallas County Election Administrator Paul Adams in the release. “Our message is simple: Know Before You Go.”
Dallas County elections officials encouraged voters to look up their polling place in advance. Those who plan to cast their ballot on election day can visit DallasCountyVotes.org or call 469-627-8653 to find their local voting station.
Voters will choose partisan candidates in the primary on March 3 to run in the general election on November 3. Major county elections include the following:
Dallas County Judge
Dallas County District Attorney
Dallas County Clerk
Dallas County District Clerk
- Democrat: Incumbent District Clerk Felicia Pitre.
- Republican: Dave Muelhaeusler.
Dallas County Treasurer
Dallas County Commissioners
- Precinct 2
- Precinct 4
- Democrat: Incumbent Elba Garcia.
- Republican: None.
Justice Of The Peace
Numerous Democrats filed to run for different positions. Only a handful of races had two parties:
- Precinct 1-1
- Precinct 2-1
- Precinct 3-1
- Precinct 4-1
- Democrat: Incumbent Judge Mike Jones, Maxine Woods-McMillan (did not make the ballot).
- Republican: Fred Van Liew.
More Elections
For the District Court, various Democrats filed, according to Ballotpedia. The only race with two parties was the Texas 298th District Court, where Tracie Shelby and Ashley Smith are running as Democrats, and Clark Will is running as a Republican.
For County Court at Law, Probate Court, County Criminal Court, and County Criminal District Court, dozens of Democrats filed, but no Republicans filed.
