City of Addison issued the following announcement on April 16

On Monday, April 12 at approximately 5:41pm, the Addison Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Cortland Addison Circle apartments at 15777 Quorum Drive  The fire started in the attic of this four-story, 130-unit building. Fire and Police crews worked with the property management staff to safely evacuate all of the tenants in the building. More than 70 firefighters responded to the scene and battled the fire, including partners from Carrollton, Coppell, and Farmers Branch’s Fire Departments. The team at the North Texas Emergency Communications Center (NTECC) was instrumental in assisting with the efforts of all the first responders. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters and several pets were rescued and reunited with their owners. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.

The community’s response has been impressive. Pappy’s Pet Lodge helped during the fire to house, care for, and reunite pets rescued from the apartments. New York Pizza and Subs delivered pizzas and Chick-Fil-A Addison brought chicken sandwiches for the crowds and the first responders. The community has generously donated gift cards. While these residents continue to struggle with the impact of the fire, we ask that donations be dropped off at the Cortland Leasing Office at 15777 Quorum Drive.

Our hearts are with those in our community who are suffering but are grateful for the efforts of our first responders who were able to protect the lives of those involved.
