Texas Man Allegedly Shot to Death by Home Intruder in Oklahoma

A man from Perryton, Texas, was fatally shot on Sunday in the far western Oklahoma Panhandle, allegedly by the man who had broken into his home, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) says.

According to a statement from the OSBI, 34-year-old Eric Ortega was shot on February 20 in Boise City.

When officers with the Boise City Police Department and the Cimarron County Sheriff found him, they took him to a local hospital. However, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the agency, a man from Boise City forced his way into Ortega’s home. When Ortega confronted him, the intruder shot him.

The OSBI identified the man who shot Ortega as 26-year-old Jonathan Robinson. Per the statement, Robinson was arrested at the scene and transferred to the Cimarron County Jail.

Court records do not yet show if formal charges have been filed in the case. The OSBI says that its investigation is ongoing.
