Dallas Police are investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and another in critical condition Saturday afternoon in the Cedar Crest area of South Dallas.

Officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 2:09 p.m. on June 28 in the 3900 block of Linfield Road. Preliminary investigation showed two men had been shot multiple times by unknown suspects.

The deceased victim has been identified as 28-year-old Nigel Calhoun, who died at the scene. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the second victim to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. No suspects are in custody.

This incident occurred less than 48 hours after another fatal shooting in the same general area of Linfield Road. On June 26, Dallas Police responded to a call in the 3300 block of Linfield Road, where 31-year-old Lee Womack Jr. was shot and killed. Jermiah Savage, 21, was arrested in that case on outstanding warrants from outside Dallas. A grand jury referral has been made.

Homicide detectives continue to work both cases. The June 28 investigation is documented under case number 093227-2026. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. R. Kramer at 214-671-3608 or [email protected].

The back-to-back shootings come as Dallas Police continue to investigate multiple homicide cases across the city. No motive has been released in the June 28 shooting, and authorities have not identified any connection between the two Linfield Road incidents.

Homicide detectives continue to work both cases as Dallas has recorded more than 60 murders and non-negligent homicides year-to-date in 2026, according to Dallas Police Department NIBRS data. The department remains significantly understaffed, operating with roughly 3,300–3,400 officers — well below the 4,000-officer minimum mandated by voter-approved Proposition U in November 2024, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
