A Dallas man allegedly stole a car and caused a crash that killed one person and injured two, Carrollton police say.

29-year-old Joseph Demarcus Warren was arrested on Wednesday and now faces a murder charge for the death of 29-year-old Rohit Khanna of Carrollton.

On Monday, at nearly 6 p.m, Warren ran allegedly a red light near the intersection of Keller Springs Road and Willowgate Lane while driving a stolen Lexus, police said. He then allegedly hit another car that was entering the intersection.

According to officers, witnesses around the scene at the time of the accident said Warren was driving at high speeds while the other car was entering the intersection legally.

The driver of the other car, Khanna, was pronounced dead on the scene while the two passengers in the vehicle were transferred to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano.

Police said the two passengers, both 29, sustained severe injuries, with one in critical condition.

According to police, the Lexus that Warren was driving was reported stolen from a convenience store just about half an hour before the crash.

Police say Warren sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Warren was admitted to the same hospital the two passengers were taken to. After he was released the same day, he was arrested and booked into the Carrollton jail. It is unclear whether Warren has an attorney. His bond has not been set.
