Duncanville Police took a man into custody following a domestic violence incident on February 14.

Officers arrived at the 1300 block of South Main Street in Duncanville around 1:15 a.m. after a woman was reportedly held against her will in an apartment.

Brandon Taylor, 41, reportedly let the woman go upon the arrival of the police but barricaded himself inside the apartment.

Patrol officers said they attempted to negotiate with the suspect, but he refused to surrender.

The department’s SWAT team was then called to the scene to act as a mediator but could not convince the man to surrender.

After several hours, officers released a chemical irritant into the apartment, forcing the man outside.

No one was injured in the incident.

According to police, Taylor violated a court-ordered emergency protection order against the woman.

Taylor was arrested and faces charges for violating a protection order and outstanding warrants.
