An 18-year-old student allegedly involved in the October 2021 Timberview High School shooting was indicted on three counts of attempted murder on February 11.

According to previous reports by The Dallas Express, Timothy Simpkins is accused of shooting and injuring four people in the high school after he got into a fight with one of the victims.

Simpkins and 15-year-old Zacchaeus Selby had been in a fight before the 18-year old allegedly took out a gun from his backpack and shot Selby and three other people, including one teacher.

Simpkins fled the scene after the shooting but later turned himself in to authorities. The 18-year-old was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released on a $75,000 bond on October 7, one day after the shooting.

Simpkins was later arrested on December 23 after he failed a court-ordered drug test, which violated his bond terms.

According to latest reports on CBS 11 News, Simpkins was indicted on charges by a Tarrant County Grand Jury on Friday.

The 18-year-old was indicted on three counts of attempted murder. He was also charged on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place.

Simpkins’ family claimed he had been bullied in school because other kids were jealous of his expensive lifestyle. Simpkins’ family claimed his action was motivated by the constant bullying he had to endure from Selby and other students in the school.

The Arlington PD investigated the claim but found no evidence the 18-year-old was bullied. Arlington PD’s assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye maintained that Simpkins’ action cannot be justified even if he was bullied.
