A man sits in the Parker County Jail after he allegedly shot his wife in their home on March 2, according to The Dallas Morning News.

According to Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier, the office received a call around 4 p.m. from 47-year-old Michael Wayne Stearns stating that he and his wife were arguing before reaching for his .22 pistol and shooting her in the side.

Stearns also told deputies that he would be sitting on the porch with a shotgun when they arrived.

Officers arrived at the residence in the 1500 block of Midway Drive in Springtown and arrested the man without incident.

His wife, who remains unidentified, told the authorities that she and her husband were arguing when he became upset and shot her on the left side as she sat in a chair.

The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Stearns was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has a $500,000 bond.
