The Dallas Police Department has identified a man as a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month on Floyd Street.

According to the DPD Beat, Dallas Police identified Nicholas Glenn Fields as a suspect in the incident, which left a man in his 50s dead.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, officers of the Dallas Police Department were dispatched to the shooting scene, located at a park in the 3000 block of Floyd Street, at about 1:47 p.m. on March 3.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered the victim, a white male, lying on the sidewalk. The victim had been shot multiple times in the chest, according to police.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries.

According to Dallas Police, witnesses saw a white male of approximately 30 years old walk up to the victim and shoot him three times in the chest. Witnesses said there was no prior confrontation or argument observed between the suspect and the victim.

Dallas Police said witnesses followed the suspect several blocks but lost him after he went into an alley.

Authorities believe both the suspect and the victim belong to the city’s homeless population.

Dallas Police have not released the victim’s identification, pending fingerprint analysis from the Dallas County Medical Examiner office.

Officers did not say how Fields was identified as the suspect. However, the department previously revealed that detectives from Dallas PD were working with local homeless shelters to identify the suspect.

Police said an arrest warrant has now been issued for Fields for his alleged crime.

Dallas Police ask anyone with any information that might lead to the suspect’s arrest to contact Detective Frank Serra with the Dallas Police Homicide Unit at 214-671-4320 or email at [email protected].
