JFK Assassination Casts Shadow on This Day in History

On this day in history, November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas by Lee Harvey Oswald, according to most history books.

Most have seen footage of the president as he rode in an open-top car down Elm Street toward Stemmons Freeway in Dallas 59 years ago today.

First Lady Jacqueline sat beside her husband in the back seat while Texas Governor John B. Connally and his wife Nellie rode in the seat in front of them.

At about 12:30 p.m., when the presidential motorcade passed the Texas School Book Depository, shots were fired that killed the 35th president of the United States.

The motorcade rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where Kennedy, 55, was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after the shooting. Governor Connally was also wounded in the assault but recovered following surgery.

About 70 minutes after the shooting, Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested by the Dallas police department and charged with the murders of both President Kennedy and J.D. Tippit — a Dallas police officer whom Oswald allegedly shot and killed in Oak Cliff merely 45 minutes after he assassinated the president.

On the morning of November 24, as Oswald was being moved through the Dallas police headquarters’ basement, Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby shot and killed him with cameras rolling and many witnesses present.

Ruby was convicted of Oswald’s murder in March 1964, but the conviction was overturned in an appeal. He died from cancer in prison in 1967, awaiting his trial.

Following a 10-month investigation, the Warren Commission concluded that Oswald acted alone in his assassination of Kennedy, and Ruby acted alone in his murder of Oswald.

Visitors can learn more about this historical event by visiting the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, located on the sixth floor of the former Texas School Book Depository (now the Dallas County administration building). On the tour, guests stand near the exact location from which Oswald allegedly fired upon the president.

The museum, open Wednesday through Sunday, explores not only Kennedy’s assassination but his life and legacy as well.

As previously covered by The Dallas Express, an upcoming auction in Dallas will sell an array of artifacts related to Kennedy and his assassination, including the president’s rocking chair and Jack Ruby’s wallet.

Something very fishy about Ruby. He had to know Oswald would be executed. So why the dumb stunt? I think it was to ensure Oswald kept silent because he knew who was really behind it. We’re being lied to.

Definitely agree. Ruby certainly didn’t kill Oswald out of any emotions or loyalty to Kennedy. He did it because 1) he was terminally ill 2) he didn’t have a choice. Even back when this happened things weren’t so lax that you walked into a police station during a time of international coverage of a murder of a president, with a loaded gun, and then proceed to kill a man in front of the entire police force, in their house, completely unobstructed.
The entire chain of events had mafia written all over it and goes to show exactly how corrupt things have always been.
JFK was so entitled he literally could care less about minorities or anyone else. Kind of like Hillary and Nancy and Liden claiming they’re mission is to help the poor, hungry, and down-trodden. The only people I know who’s life mission is to do such, live a very meager existence and find joy in helping others. They most certainly aren’t amassing wealth and power beyond imagination.

Like Trump claiming to “Make America Great Again”, when in actuality, all he wants is to make himself richer, and Make America Gross Again!

Oh please. He lost tons of money being President, even donating his salary. Do you think extremely rich Biden or Pelosi donate any money to anything? Of course not. Pelosi had her doofus husband go out and buy stocks she knew was going to rise based on what she knew the house was going to do. That’s called insider trading…which is against the law. Talk about someone wanting to make themselves richer. Pelosi is the poster child for white privilege.

If we EVER see Trump’s tax returns, we will see who is the poster child for white privilege. And what organization did he donate his salary to? The Trump Foundation, or the Trump Legal Defense Fund?

At this time I was a Train Caller at the Dallas Union Station 2 blocks from Dealy Plaza. Union Station had towers at the north and south of the Union Station to spot the passenger trains arriving. I would announce the arrivals over Union Station PA after the towers contacted me with the info. My man in the north tower, overlooking the grassy knoll, later told me of seeing a man coming up from behind the knoll with something rolled in a blanket and placing it in trunk of car parked just behind the knoll right after the shots were fired…
