One woman was left dead in a house fire incident that occurred on the morning of January 22, according to reports on FOX 4 News.

According to the Dallas Fire-Rescue, firefighters arrived at the scene of the incident located in the 1400 block of Briar Cliff Road and observed heavy fire from the side of a house.

According to FOX 4 News, a second alarm was transmitted after it was reported that a woman in her 70s was still in the burning building. Firefighters went into the building to rescue her but found her burned body on the bedroom floor.

According to FOX 4 News, the public information officer with Dallas Fire-Rescue revealed that a neighbor had attempted to go inside the house and rescue the woman but had turned back because of the fire condition and the partial collapse of the building’s roof.

The victim’s daughter was also in the room when the fire began but was able to exit the house safely prior to the firefighters’ arrival.

Investigators revealed that they believe the fire started from the bedroom and spread into the attic space before firefighters arrived at the scene, according to FOX 4 News.

The cause of the fire is under investigation; the Dallas County Medical Examiner has yet to release their conclusion regarding the victim’s cause of death.
