Several groups have joined forces to survey Dallas residents on the value of the city’s nighttime economy.

Visit Dallas, 24HourDallas, and the Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality division of Convention and Event Services have tasked research firm Tourism Economics to conduct the survey. The survey aims to gain insight from representatives from all parts of the economy: employees, businesses, entertainers, and consumers. The results will be shared at this year’s Sociable City Summit at the Adolphus Hotel from April 18 to 20.

Last year, The Dallas Express reported that the City was preparing to host the summit put on by the Responsible Hospitality Institute. According to its website, the organization aims to “create diverse, welcoming social venues and districts where people have an opportunity to connect and lead more enriching lives.”

City of Dallas Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality Manager Nathan Armstrong said, “If you go to a sports game, dine in a restaurant, attend happy hours in bars, or see live music at night, you are contributing to the nighttime economy.”

Armstrong says the survey results will help determine how well “this sector is emerging from the pandemic and position ourselves to support nighttime businesses and our entertainment districts.”

According to Craig David, President of Visit Dallas, other cities competing with Dallas understand “that the safety and vibrancy of their nighttime economy” is critical for business to flourish.

“With a new, unified destination brand and investment in a new Convention Center district of historic proportions, this will help set expectations for the associated Hotel Occupancy Tax and sales tax funding services and amenities for residents and visitors alike for years to come,” said David.

The more people participate, “the better and more significant the results of the economic impact study will be for Dallas,” read a recent post on X from 24HourDallas.
