On Friday, January 7, Collin County Sheriff’s Office took into custody a former Wylie minister.

According to authorities, Timothy Wells, a former minister for the First Baptist Church of Wylie, inappropriately touched a 15-year-old girl on December 12, 2021.

He has been working for the church since January 2019 but was recently placed on leave and then eventually terminated.

After the sheriff’s office conducted an investigation, they issued a warrant for Wells’ arrest. He faces charges of sexual assault against a minor and could be charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, which is a second-degree felony.

He sits in the Collin County Detention Facility and is held on a $25,000 bond.

Another staff member from the church made the initial report.

If anyone has information regarding the incident or other instances regarding former Wylie minister Timothy Wells, contact the Collin County Sheriff’s Office at 972-547-5350.
