The Dallas Police Department (DPD) and non-profit Trusted World are partnering to support community members suffering from “the epidemic of situational poverty” per a January 28 press release via The DPD Beat.

The non-profit organization Trusted World facilitates the services of frontline workers who frequently interact with families experiencing crises, such as police officers, school counselors, social workers, and other not-for-profit intercessors. The frontline workers disseminate supplies to provide these families with basic necessities including food, size-specific clothing, and toiletries.

The DPD Beat press release explained the process of the partnership: “Dallas Police officers order those quality resources online through Trusted World’s Partner Portal which are delivered to the police department within 48 hours and at no cost. Officers are then able to personally deliver those items to the community members in crisis.”

Trusted World Founder and CEO Michael Garrett illuminated the spirit of the collaboration: “We can’t help police officers on the protection side, but we can on the serving side. Police officers, like school counselors, are on the front lines and among the first to see people struggling and in crisis. And while they may have the passion and desire to make a difference in a person’s life, they don’t have the resources. [Trusted World] said, ‘We got your back.’”

The threefold objective of the new partnership is to build, bridge, and bring relief:

‘Build’ community trust.

‘Bridge’ the gap between members of the community and law enforcement.

‘Bring relief’ to the people that DPD serves.
