Drivers heading east on Mockingbird Lane near North Central Expressway will face lane closures scheduled to begin Saturday, September 19, as construction continues around SMU/Mockingbird Station.

The work overlaps with the opening week of the State Fair of Texas, making station access another detail to check for Dallas residents planning to park and ride.

According to DART’s station construction notice, one eastbound lane will be closed around the clock from September 19 through September 30. An additional lane will close from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The station entrance and exit at East Mockingbird Lane and Worcola Road are already closed for the September 2–30 construction phase. DART directs station traffic to Twin Sixties Drive.

Worcola Road north of Twin Sixties Drive is scheduled to remain closed through February 2027.

The station, at 5465 E. Mockingbird Lane, serves the Red, Orange, and Blue rail lines. DART’s notice also warns of limited parking during construction.

The State Fair runs September 25 through October 18. DART’s fair transportation page lists special rail and bus plans for the event.

The Green Line serves Fair Park Station, near the fairgrounds’ Parry Avenue entrance, and MLK, Jr. Station, convenient to Gate 6 and the Cotton Bowl.

On Saturdays and Sundays during the fair, as well as October 12, DART plans to operate the Orange Line between DFW Airport Station and Buckner Station, providing additional service through downtown Dallas and Fair Park. Riders should use the agency’s fair-specific transfer instructions for their travel day.

DART also is introducing weekend State Fair Flyer buses from selected locations.

For visitors buying State Fair admission online, DART advertises a $5 discount on a one-day Fair FLEX ticket. The promo code is in the GoPass app’s Events tab and is entered at BigTex.com. The offer runs September 1 through October 18, is limited to four tickets per order, and applies to fair admission only. Transit fares are a separate purchase.

Other transit changes are arriving before the fair opens. DART has posted September 21 service updates, with route-specific schedules available for riders to review.

For a trip involving both a drive to a station and a train ride, check the station’s access notice as well as the schedule for the actual travel date. DART customer service is available at 214-979-1111.
