Dallas Area Rapid Transit is trying to take some of the hassle out of traveling to the State Fair this year while helping fairgoers save money.

DART riders can take the Green Line train to Fair Park, where passengers can conveniently disembark at one of two fairground stops, bypassing the $20 parking fee.

“To get to the Fair, ride DART’s Green Line to Fair Park Station, located on Parry Avenue at the entrance to the fairgrounds, or to MLK, Jr. Station, located south of R.B. Cullum Boulevard and convenient to the Gate 6 entrance and the Cotton Bowl Stadium,” DART said in a news release.

“Extra Green Line trains will run between Victory Station and Lawnview Station from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays,” DART noted. “During those hours, trains on that portion of the Green Line will run approximately every 10 minutes.”

Fairgoers who do not live close to a Green Line access point can connect using the Red, Blue, or Orange Lines.

People traveling on the northbound Red and Blue Lines can transfer at Akard Station, while those traveling southbound on the Red, Blue, or Orange Lines can transfer at Pearl/Arts District Station. All lines will run on a 20-minute frequency until 10 p.m.

DART is also offering extended service on all Orange Line trains to Parker Road Station until 10 p.m. for all 24 days of the fair.

A DART Day Pass is just $6 and can be purchased with the GoPass app, a GoPass Tap card, a credit card, or a payment app on a mobile device.

DART is also offering a promotion to encourage riders to visit the fair. Enter the code 23DART when purchasing tickets on the State Fair of Texas website to receive a $5 discount on weekday admission and a $7 discount on Saturdays and Sundays.

For those who like to crunch numbers, note that fairgoers can spend $6 taking DART, saving $7 on weekend ticket admission and another $20 on parking, leaving an additional $21 to spend on fair food and fun.
