The Dallas Zoo gorillas that tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month have been cleared of the virus, authorities said.

On February 8, the zoo announced via Instagram that five western lowland gorillas tested positive for COVID-19. According to the zoo, the five gorillas were asymptomatic and did not require treatment. The gorillas were to be closely monitored by zoologists and veterinarians.

According to a follow-up post by the zoo on February 15, the National Veterinary Services Laboratory confirmed the animals’ positive test results and found they had the Omicron variant.

However, great news came last week on February 24 when the zoo announced in an Instagram post that all five gorillas had been cleared of COVID-19. With the information came a heartwarming video of the gorilla family troop.
