Fast-casual Chicago-style street food chain, Portillo’s, is finally opening a location in Dallas proper.

Portillo’s has been rapidly expanding across North Texas in recent years, as previously reported by The Dallas Express. However, Dallas itself has so far failed to secure its own location.

Now, that is about to change.

The chain known for its Chicago-style hot dogs plans to open multiple new locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including a new spot at Galleria Dallas.

“Portillo’s is expanding in Dallas! We’re strutting into the Galleria with buns, beef, and plenty of style later this year,” read a post from the chain on X. The Galleria Dallas restaurant will offer seating for around 120 guests inside and roughly 40 outside.

There is also a new Portillo’s that opened in Grand Prairie on August 21, and yet another location slated at Tanger Outlets Fort Worth.

Portillo’s foray into North Texas has been rapid. The first DFW location only opened in January 2023 in The Colony.

In addition to Chicago-style hot dogs, the chain is known for its Italian beef sandwiches, chargrilled burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and chocolate cake. Patrons of Portillo’s can enjoy hot dogs straight up or with chili cheese. Polish sausages and Maxwell Street Polish sausages, which include mustard and grilled onions, are also on the menu.

“We’re thrilled to continue bringing the Portillo’s experience of iconic, craveworthy food and friendly hospitality to more communities across Texas. These upcoming openings mark an exciting step in sharing what makes Portillo’s special with even more guests throughout the state,” said Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo, per CultureMap Dallas.
