Chicago fast food concept Portillo’s plans to open another location in Texas — its seventh in Dallas-Fort Worth.

At an estimated construction cost of $4.5 million, the quick-service restaurant with patio dining will include a drive-thru and will be built at Warrior Trail and State Highway 161 in Grand Prairie, according to a state filing. Construction on the 6,160-square-foot location is scheduled to start in June, and delivery is scheduled for November 11.

In North Texas, Portillo’s operates restaurants in Allen, Denton, Fort Worth, Arlington, The Colony, and Mansfield, according to its website. Founded in 1963 in Villa Park, a suburb of Chicago, the brand is famous for its Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, cheese fries, and other items.

“Our Italian beef is slow-roasted for four hours, thinly sliced, and served on freshly baked French bread. Then, it’s dipped in hot gravy made with our homemade blend of seasonings that we’ve been perfecting for 50 years,” the website reads.

The menu also includes chicken sandwiches, ribs, pasta, and salads.

The Dallas Express reported that the company’s “Beef Bus” toured Arlington last year, giving some North Texas residents their first taste of the brand. Just over a year ago, Portillo’s opened its first location in Dallas-Fort Worth in The Colony.

For fiscal year 2023, Portillo’s posted total revenue of nearly $680 million, including $24.8 million in net income during the fourth quarter. That’s up from $587 million in fiscal year 2022. Outside of Texas, it opened eight restaurants in Illinois, Arizona, and Florida last year. On Monday, it was trading on the New York Stock Exchange at $13.75 a share.
