A Dallas police officer has been fired after his arrest on a family violence assault charge, the Dallas Police Department announced.
Officer Armando Jaramillo, badge No. 12345, was terminated following a disciplinary hearing conducted by Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux, according to a department news release.
Jaramillo had served with the department since March 2022 and was assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division.
According to the Dallas Police Department, Jaramillo was dismissed for “engaging in adverse conduct” after he was arrested by the Royse City Police Department on a charge of Assault Causes Bodily Injury – Family Violence, a Class A misdemeanor under Texas law.
The department also said the incident involved a disturbance that resulted in a police response.
In addition to the criminal charge, Dallas police said Jaramillo violated department policy by failing to notify his chain of command after he was named in a protective order stemming from the incident.
The termination followed an internal disciplinary review.
According to the department, Jaramillo’s dismissal was based on:
- His arrest on a charge of Assault Causes Bodily Injury – Family Violence.
- His involvement in a domestic disturbance that required a law enforcement response.
- His failure to notify his supervisors after being named in a protective order.
The Dallas Police Department did not release additional details about the alleged assault or identify the family member involved.
Jaramillo has been charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury – Family Violence, a Class A misdemeanor. The criminal case will proceed separately from the department’s administrative action.
As with all criminal cases, the charge against Jaramillo is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Officials have not announced a court date or whether Jaramillo has retained legal representation. The Royse City Police Department has not released additional information about the arrest.
