In a heartwarming gesture of community service, Dallas Fire-Rescue donated Easter baskets to seniors at the Singing Hills Recreation Center on Friday.

The baskets were created by the firefighters themselves, according to Jason Evans, a public information officer for Dallas Fire-Rescue.

“Each month, they try to do something to boost the morale in the office, and for the month of April, they decided to do an Easter Basket decorating contest,” said Evans in an email.

Evans said that, after the baskets were made, the firefighters decided that they wanted to donate them.

“They came up with the idea to donate the baskets they created to the seniors of the Singing Hills Recreation Center,” said Evans, so that the project could “boost morale outside of [the office] as well.”

The Singing Hills Recreation Center, located in the southeast of Dallas at 6008 Patrol Way, is a hub for senior citizens in the area. With Easter fast approaching, the Dallas Fire-Rescue team saw an opportunity to spread some cheer and joy to the community.

The firefighters spent a considerable amount of time putting together the baskets, which they personally delivered to the recreation center.

The Dallas Fire-Rescue team has a history of community service and has long been committed to giving back to the community.

This initiative is just one example of their many efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of the people they serve. For instance, Dallas Fire Captain Nick Hilton and his wife recently adopted an abandoned infant, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Originally built in 1973, a new facility was built for the Singing Hills Recreation Center in 2020. The center provides a multitude of programs for members of the surrounding community.

The Dallas Express reached out to Singing Hills Recreation Center for additional information on the firefighters’ donation and the center’s Easter plans but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
